ABOUT US

Mel and Kim met in 2000 while playing in a jazz improvisation group at the University of California, Davis. Mayhem ensued as they discovered a shared fixation on fiber and Kim taught Mel to spin yarn. Meanwhile, Kim and Quenby met at a friend's birthday party and found out they were both Craft Center junkies; Quenby is a super-volunteer and wire jewelery instructor while Kim has taught tatting and weaving there. All three of us love to play with fiber and glass. Strangely, Mel and Quenby have never met...

Mel graduated in March of 2004 from UC Davis with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. After a stint on the East Coast, she just moved to Seattle, Washington, working as an engineer for Boeing, playing classical and jazz saxophone, cultivating frustrating plants like orchids, and cooking intricate meals for friends. She spins, knits, crochets, creates beaded ID card holders and stitch markers and makes lampworked glass beads.

Kim graduated in 2003 from UC Davis veterinary school and is attempting to divide her attention between fur (animals), fuzz (spinning, weaving, dyeing, knitting) and flash (lampworking). She also plays keyboards and flute in Soul Remnants, a socially-conscious hip hop group, and weekly feeds her roommates various elaborate butternut squash dishes. She's making this website, so any mistakes are solely hers. And she has a new blog: Pepo Passion

Quenby hasn't written a bio yet, but she's busy stockpiling yarn in case of a worldwide shortage. In addition to dyeing, spinning, knitting, crocheting and weaving, she's our jewelery and business expert.
